Bedtime Reading & Netflix Binges #LittleLoves

On Tuesday I finished and handed in my first postgraduate English Literature essay, which was a little bit nerve-racking but was a huge relief after staying in the library until 10pm most nights to get it done. To make the day even better, after I'd handed my essay in, I found out that the Animal Crossing Pocket Camp app had been released a day early! So, while I sat in a cafe looking studious and reading Sylvia Plath's poetry for Wednesday's seminar, I downloaded the long-awaited game and felt like I might burst with excitement. I might do a separate post about how much I love Animal Crossing and what I think of the app...
I also took a trip to Manchester with my friend (on Black Friday, no less) and we had a look around the Christmas markets as I do every year. It's always the biggest indicator for me that it's time to feel festive, when I can walk around the city and see all the Christmas lights and the little wooden sheds filled with sweet treats and lovely gifts. I also had a compulsory look in Cath Kidston but I had to leave straight away because the temptation of seeing everything my heart desires with 40% off was too much for my purse to take. Anyway, on to this week's little loves:

Read
Finishing my essay this week meant I could finally start reading Fingersmith, which I got from the library weeks ago. I've been reading a chapter or so each night and I am already loving it, though there's a long way to go. Sarah Waters has such an immersive writing style and it's refreshing to read something just for the sake of it, rather than because it's required university reading.

Watched
I have been binge-watching Jane The Virgin on Netflix because I hadn't realised there were two new seasons for me to watch. I saw seasons one and two a while ago and was absolutely hooked, so I'm powering through the third season whenever I have a spare moment. I guess it also counts as studying because I can look away when the Spanish subtitles come up on screen... Now that I no longer study Spanish as a postgrad, I don't get enough practise and I don't want to lose my language skills after getting a degree in it!

Heard
This week the only music I've been listening to is The Ronettes. I tend to find one album or artist that I listen to repeatedly each day and then I change it up after a week or so. The Ronettes are one of my favourite groups and they help me start my mornings off with a smile on my face (and a little dance around the flat).

Made
I help out at a Rainbows group every week and on Tuesday evening we made paper windmills because we were learning about the weather. I love helping the children with their crafts and listening to their silly chatter while they're colouring in, it's the highlight of my week.

Wore
I'm not going to lie, it's Sunday and I fully intend to wear my pyjamas all day. I don't think there's anything I like more than my lazy Sundays when I wake up late, catch up on YouTube videos, sip my coffee and write this weekly update.

and lastly...
On Thursday I was feeling quite low and really needed cheering up, so my friend came round as soon as she could and we spent the night eating pizza, drinking wine and laughing until we cried. It was exactly what I needed and I felt so lucky to have people in my life who care so much about me and are there for me when I need them most.

  4. Oh I will have to write this book down. Need some new ones on my list. Sounds like you had a great week. I would kill to be in pjs just once all day one day a week somewhere. We are constantly running around to soccer gymnastic church and family days out on the weekends. Sorry for delayed comment from last week it was Thanksgiving playing catch up now on all #littleloves Have a great weekend ahead.
