Sewing, Star Wars and She & Him #LittleLoves

I have been full of a cold for what feels like forever so last week, instead of writing my Little Loves post, I spent the day sleeping. Honestly, I think I slept for 17 hours straight last Sunday. So this post will be about my little loves from the past fortnight. In that time, I won a Joanie Christmas jumper (which was the most exciting thing ever), had a Secret Santa with the lovely people I work with and finally travelled home for the Christmas holidays.

After finishing Fingersmith, I didn't know what to do with myself. It was such a brilliant book that I knew whatever I read next would struggle to compete. That might be the reason why I haven't read anything much over the past two weeks, except for scrolling through Twitter and checking my emails.

I have a confession to make. I had never seen any of the Star Wars films until this week. I came home from university on Thursday and spent the day with my boyfriend, but he'd planned to go and see the new Star Wars film with his friends that night. I was invited, so my options were to miss out and go home early, or to cram in a catch up of every Star Wars film and go and see The Last Jedi with my pals. I chose the latter. Geraint gave me hilarious summaries of every film before we went out and now I really want to watch them all. I liked The Last Jedi a lot.

The only thing I've been listening to lately is She & Him's Christmas albums. Every year, as soon as December rolls around, I want to hear nothing but Zooey Deschanel's angelic voice. I sometimes throw in The Killers Christmas singles but She & Him usually satisfy all my festive needs.

I spent a couple of days sitting at my sewing machine, making Christmas presents for my nearest and dearest. I wanted to sew gifts for everybody, but I left it a bit late this year and only managed presents for a select few. I'm really proud of the cushion I made for my Grandma using the beautiful fairy-print fabric that I had been saving for something special. I can't wait to see her open it on Christmas day.

I conquered my hat-wearing fears and wore my black beret this week. I'd always been convinced that I didn't suit hats and my hair is so thick anyway that extra warmth on top of my head is not really necessary. But everyone is wearing berets lately and I think they look cute and retro - and if it's cute and retro then it ticks all my boxes.

and lastly...
Me and my boyfriend celebrated two years together this week and it was wonderful. We've had some ups and downs but I wouldn't change anything about our relationship. I felt very lucky and very loved.

  1. The Last Jedi was so good wasn't it? Even though I've seen all the films I'm not the biggest Star Wars fan... but that one was epic!
The fairy print cushion you've made is so lovely. What a thoughtful gift too.
You've inspired me to pop on She and Him. I've not listened to that album yet this year, I don't know why, it's definitely one of my favourites for festive feels. x

    1. I have since caught up on all the Star Wars films and am a little bit obsessed haha! x
