'Twas The Week Before Christmas #LittleLoves

My little loves post is a day late this week, but seeing as it's Christmas I think I have a decent excuse... Last week was also a busy, stressful one because my Grandad has been in and out of hospital and it's made the lead up to Christmas a bit different to usual. There were snippets of joy, though, like having a pizza and film night with some of my favourites, and visiting my friends' beautiful new house. We spent the night playing games and laughing and it was just what I needed. Christmas is always a strange time because I feel like there's even more pressure than usual to be happy and positive, which isn't always easy. I tried my best, but it'll just be a short little loves this week:

I haven't done much reading this week, but I did make a start on The Night Watch by Sarah Waters (I don't need to repeat how much I loved Fingersmith, do I?). On Monday, I had to house-sit for my brother and his girlfriend so I made the most of the peace and quiet to read a couple of chapters. My mum also bought me Bourbon Creams and Tattered Dreams, because I loved Custard Tarts and Broken Hearts, and I'm looking forward to starting that.

It is a truth universally acknowledged that a girl must watch The Holiday every Christmas. Most of the time, I don't like re-watching films I've already seen, but at Christmas I absolutely must watch The Holiday, Elf and Love, Actually. So far I have watched the first two, but I'll make sure to fit Love, Actually in before the year's out.

I've been making lots of Little's instant maple and walnut flavoured coffee this week - it's my new favourite thing. I've nearly used up the whole jar already because I can't get enough of it.

After struggling constantly with fake eyelashes and glue whenever I want to make a bit more effort with my make-up, I decided to give magnetic eyelashes a go and they were actually a huge success. I bought some cheap ones on eBay but I'm going to try some more out because I'm definitely not going back to glue-on lashes now.

and lastly...
I'm actually writing this on Christmas Day because I didn't have time to post yesterday, so I'm currently cosied up in my new pyjamas, full of food and wine, feeling quite content. My friend from university came to spend Christmas with us and it's been lovely to have her company.
